Cook Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped salted peanuts
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and halved
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- Browned Butter Frosting
Preparation:
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream sugars with butter. Beat in eggs, beating well after each addition; add vanilla and beat until light and fluffy.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk, blending well after each addition. Stir in peanuts, cherry halves, and chocolate chips.
Grease and flour the bottom of a 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Spread batter in pan and bake at 325° for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with the Browned Butter Frosting while bars are still warm.
Cool and cut into bars.
Browned Butter Frosting
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk, or enough for spreading consistency
