Kourabiedes Cookie Recipe with Whole Cloves

These butter cookies, kourabiedes, are Greek cookies with whole cloves, rolled in confectioners sugar.

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • whole cloves, about 48 to 60
  • confectioners' sugar

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg yolks. Stir in flour. Shape dough into small balls about 3/4-inch in diameter, pressing a whole clove into the center of each ball. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies are set but not browned. Cool for 2 minutes then remove to rack and dust with sifted confectioners' sugar.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
